Background: Hope is the newborn daughter of Than and Ying. Ying was pregnant with her when she and her husband left their town for the safety of Ba-Sing-Se, and went into labor just outside the outer wall of the city. When Hope was born, the love and togetherness exhibited by her parents inspired Aang to feel again as he was currently trying to bury his feelings. It was for this reason that Ying gave Hope her unique name.
Personality: As Hope is a newborn child, her personality has really yet to be developed; though Iroh and Katara have commented on how "beautiful" she is.
