Background: Gansu owns a small farm in the Earth Kingdom with his wife Sela and his son Lee. His older son, Sen Tzu, left to fight in the war against the Fire Nation. When Gow, leader of a corrupt group of Earth Kingdom soldiers, turned up on his farm and informed the farmer his older son had been killed by the Fire Nation, Gansu did not believe him and left the farm and his family to find Sen Tzu. It is uncertain where he is now.

Personality: Gansu is a respectable farmer and an honorable person. He is intolerant of people who abuse their power and, like his young son, stands up for himself against such people, which sometimes gets him into trouble. Gansu cares deeply for his family and loves his sons; when presented with the possibility that his oldest son might be dead, he is willing to ride into the heart of battle in order to find him.
